The first and second place teams met at Challenger, and the game did not disappoint. The Yankees jumped out to an early lead, fueled by an error and a big home run to center for the Yankees' Willian. The Marlins plated 1 in the first inning as Joe Duran manufactured with speed and 2 stolen bases.
The Yankees would add another 3 in the second. The 4th and 5th innings belonged to the Marlins as they pounded out 6 hits and 5 runs to take the lead going into the 6th inning. The 4th started off by a HR from Armer and a liner by Eric Keen, but that is all they would get. In the 5th inning, the Marlins broke it open, with 5 hits including a 2 RBI triple by Fayle and an RBI double by Parker. Eric Davila, who came in to relieve St. Clair, was cruising with 10'ks over 7 innings, and 1 earned run.
The Yankees battled back again to take the lead in the bottom of the 6th inning, which included more Marlins' errors, and they would hold on to win in after adding two more in the 9th. The tale of the tape for the Marlins, was 7 errors on defense, and 12 LOB. Both pitching staffs had an excellent day, with each team having 12 k's, and less than 4 earned runs.
