Challenger - Game 1
Mariners 8
Yankees 6
WP: Doleshel. SV: Diaz.
HR >> None.

Down 2-1 after two innings, courtesy of a two-run blast by Yankees All-Star Roy Williams, the Mariners put up 3 in the third to take the lead for good. The Yankees kept battling, though, making this one a nail-biter to the end.

Mariners All-Star Craig Doleshel pitched effectively for the win, and José Luis Diaz, returning from his trip to Mexico, kept the Yankees running game in check and pitched well in relief for the save.

Doleshel and fellow M's All-Star Bobby Camarena each went 3-for-4 with a double to lead the Mariner offense. This victory clinches a playoff spot for the Mariners, eliminating the Yankees, barring any Mariner forfeits next week.

Mariners:
Doleshel (3-4, 2B, RBI, 3 Runs, 2 SB, 6 IP, 2 K, 0 BB, 4 ER), Diaz (2 IP, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 H, 2 K), Rodriguez (1-4, 2 RBI), Camarena (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI, Run, 3 SB), Macias (2-3, BB, RBI, Run), Turner (1-4, 2B, RBI), Gonzalez (2-3, RBI, 2 Runs, SB).
