The Phillies seize victory thanks to late single, drop the Mariners 6-4.
The Phillies outlasted the Mariners on Sunday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 6-4 win. The Phillies took the lead in the seventh inning and held on for the victory. The Phillies scored on an RBI single by Joe Dembowski Jr off Doleshel, plating Leon Alcantar.
The Phillies staved off the Mariners as the Mariners were unable to match the Phillies down the stretch. The Mariners scored one run in the seventh on an RBI single by Turner. Unfortunately, the Mariners weren't able to take the lead back.
Jeremy Irby led the Phillies' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the seventh and ninth innings.
Ed Reyes got the win in relief for the South Bay Phillies. Reyes pitched two innings and allowed two runs.
The Phillies jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A single by David Gutierrez, scoring Irby started the inning off. The lead was the Phillies' to lose after seventh inning. More runs came home on a sacrifice fly by Patrick Battiste and three singles.
