Orioles 7
Mariners 7
HR >> Orioles: C. Rains, A. Sheehan. Mariners: Macias.

Mariners hang tough and pull off the upset by scoring two in the 9th to settle for the tie.

Classic Orioles-Mariners battle.

O's jump out to a 4-run lead in the top of the first, highlighted by Chris Rains's leadoff home run. Another run in the second made it 5-0 before the M's got three back in the bottom of the second to make it 5-3. An insurance run in the top of the sixth for the O's made it 6-3, but Luis Macias got the Mariners within a run with a two-run jack in the bottom of the sixth. Andrew Sheehan responded with a jack of his own in the top of the seventh to bring it back to a two-run game, 7-5.

The score would remain this way until the bottom of the ninth when Ignascio "Bobby" Camarena smacked an RBI double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. As the Orioles held a conference at the mound, Camarena cunningly took off for the plate, as time out was never called, tying the game at 7. A pair of walks put the pressure on the Orioles, but they escaped further damage, and a loss, by retiring the final two hitters.

Steve Cooper pitches all nine innings for the Mariners to "earn the tie."
