Matt Kaufmann took his no hitter into the 7th inning but muscle cramps stopped him when he allowed 3 hits in the final inning. Kaufmann ended up only allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs in 6.2 innings. Adrian Flint came in for the injured Kaufmann and struck out his only batter he faced.

Despite a big day at the dish from Brian Butcher, who finished 2-2, the Rays lost 13-5 to the Mariners at Prospect on Sunday.

Hal Levin was confident on the mound for the Rays. He allowed four earned runs over 3 2/3 innings. Levin gave up seven hits while walking six and striking out two. The Mariners pounded the Rays pitching, as six hitters combined for 15 hits, seven RBIs and nine runs scored.

The bottom of the second saw the Rays take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Charles "Chuck" Rivera, plating Butcher started the inning off. After a quick strike from the Mariners, the Rays responded with three runs in the third.

The Rays scored on a wild pitch, a groundout by Jamal Fulton, and a groundout by Carlos Noriega. The game's last lead went to the Mariners thanks to a sixth inning rally that saw eight runs cross the plate on two doubles, three singles, and two wild pitchs.
