The Rays lost a battle of the bats on Sunday at Challenger, falling short in a 19-14 ballgame against the Orioles.

Bryce Shepherd racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Rays. He homered in the third inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the first and seventh innings.

The Orioles hammered the Rays pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 13 hits, 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored. Home runs for the Orioles came when Rains homered in the first inning, Chase homered in the second inning, and Cooper homered in the fifth inning.

The top of the first saw the Rays take an early lead, 1-0. Shepherd started the rally for the Rays with a single.

The lead stayed with the Orioles after the first, when they scored three runs on a solo home run by Rains, an RBI single by Bronsr, and a steal of home by Cooper.

The Orioles tacked on another three runs in the second. Chase kicked things off with a two-run home run, scoring Conroy. That was followed up by Sheehan's single, plating Bronse.

Two runs in the top of the third helped the Rays close their deficit to 6-3. A two-run home run by Shepherd set off a the Rays rally. Finally, Chase got Issac Shepherd to fly out to end the threat.

The Orioles added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A clutch sacrifice fly scored Highlander to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Fulton's double, plating Bronse and Rains.

Two runs in the top of the fifth helped the Rays close their deficit to 11-5. An RBI double by Chris Scaduto and an RBI double by Shepherd triggered the Rays' comeback. Fulton ended the inning by getting Jamal Fulton to strike out.

It didn't take long for the Orioles to respond as they scored four runs of their own in the fifth. The Orioles scored on a home run by Cooper.

After pushing across nine runs in the top of the seventh, the Rays faced just a 19-14 deficit. A hit by pitch, a two-run single by Mito Guel, an RBI single by Shepherd, a groundout by Carlos Noriega, an RBI single by Gilbert Ramirez, and a three-run home run by Patrick Battiste fueled the Rays' comeback. Cooper ended the game by getting Ed Reyes to ground out.

Back and forth game until the 5th when the Indians took the lead for good on 3 runs and then 3 more in the 8th to win it 9-6.

The Brewers stumbled on 6 errors for the game, can't do that against a good team like the Indains and they maid us pay. Steve Ashley went 4-4 with 2-2B, a HR and 3 RBI.

Indians were up 3-0 after 2, then the Brewers tied it in the 4th. The Indans took the lead agian in the 6th with 3 runs. Brewers scored 1 in the 5th and 9 in the 6th on 8 hits (3 2B, 3B) to secure the win.

Gonzalez pitched a tough complete game for the win.
