Orioles 14
Rays 4

Orioles Win Series 2-0.

WP: B. Siefert.
HR >> None.

Leading 4-2 O's offense erupts for 6 runs in the third inning, and effectively put the game out of reach. With sufficient run support, Siefert went to work smothering the Rays' line-up striking out 6.

With the win, the Orioles secure a spot in the Championship, their second in as many years.

Gilroy - Game 1
Red Sox 6
Braves 0
WP: Jensen.
HR >> None.

With the Red Sox coming into the day knowing that they needed to sweep the Braves, having limited pitching for the day and with a bunch of banged up and hurting teammates, Chris Jensen took to the hill and provided once again the spark needed to get the job done for the Red Sox throwing a complete game shutout to allow the Red Sox the opportunity to play the Braves one last time. Jensen contributed three hits to help aid his cause.

Red Sox collect 12 hits along the way for the win.

Padres 6

Astros Win Series 2-0.

WP: Betancourt.
HR >> None.

Kalev Betancourt threw 8 strong innings, and Jon Norris came in and pitched the ninth to finish off a scrappy Padres team. Oak Grove - Game 1
Reds(18) 12
A's(18) 2

Reds(18) Win Series 2-0.

WP: Paredes.
HR >> Reds(18): Siaca "El Caballo Rojo".

The San José Reds emphatically completed their two game sweep of the A's behind some sensational hitting at the plate and the return of reigning three time HOF Award Winner, Adam Paredes, who showed exactly why with a shutdown, complete game performance. In a week that was marred with off the field controversy over hurt feelings that left the Reds feeling like they had the entire MSBL against them, they showed up on the field with great team fire, intensity, and unity Sunday afternoon. The offense was clicking on all cylinders as both Marcos Siaca and "Choco" Rodriguez continued their hot streaks at the plate, leading the way with two hits and 3 RBIs each.

Rodriguez got the Reds going in the top of the 2nd inning when he reached on a two-base throwing error. Standing at 3rd with Esparza, who reached on a walk, at second, up stepped DH Rudy DeAnda with a chance to redeem himself, after being held out of the lineup last week for disciplinary actions and that's exactly what he did by shooting a single through the hole on the left side to give the Reds the early 2-0 lead. The hitting became contagious after that as Adams, Gonzalez, Pino, & Rodriguez all added rbi singles in the inning, while Siaca's 2-run base hit blew the game wide open at that point at 6-0. After an inning in which the Reds batted around and sent 14 men to the plate, there was only dead silence from the A's end of the diamond as they were staring an 8 run deficit in the eye.

With a comfortable lead, Paredes never looked in any real danger as he coasted through seven innings of work to notch his fifth victory on the year, while lowering his era to an excellent 2.74 mark.

With the championship game against the highly talented Santa Cruz Mets approaching in two weeks, manager Medina Jr. is pleased with how things are looking with his two prospective starters, "Adam looked sharp today and didn't show any real signs of rustiness, so that's a huge positive heading into our matchup against the Mets. And Jordan showed what he can do for us in big games with his lights out performance last week."

The San José Reds and Santa Cruz Mets will meet for a fourth straight season for the Atlantic Division Championship. Game 1 is September 12th at 10 a.m. in Aptos with Game 2 following at 2 p.m..

Tigers trailed 6-1 going into the bottom of the 4th. Rick Spence started and put up a gutsy performance keeping the Jay's bombers in the park. Craig Jones entered in the 5th and gave up a hit and a walk in the final 5 to earn the win as Tigers chipped away at Travis Talbot for the come from behind win, and break a 5 game lossing streak to the Jays.
