Photo of the Year - Third Place

Mets center fielder Drew Pleasant breaks his bat as he flys out to center field in the first inning of game one of a wood bat double-header against the Royals at Aptos. Pleasant went 2-for-4 scoring a run and knocking in another in the game. The Mets cracked five bats on the day on their way to sweeping the Royals 9-8 and 10-2. Even with the $300 expense of five broken bats, Mets manager Brian Feduk says the Mets are looking forward to more wood bat games saying "It's just a tighter game is all". Giants Sweep Tigers at Los Gatos!
Photo of the Week (2010-06-27)

It was a slow week for Photo of the Week submissions. Fortunately John McCauley, a Tiger fan, got these two great shots at the Giants-Tigers double-header in Los Gatos. On the left, Tigers second baseman Frank Melendez turns the front half of a double play. On the right, Tigers outfielder Matt Marks is wondering why the fences were taken down as he hit this reportedly 400+ foot flyout in the top of the first inning of game one. The Giants swept the Tigers 7-6 and 6-3 to remain atop the National Division with a 7-1 division record (7-3 overall). (Photos submitted by John McCauley, a Tiger fan, for Frank Melendez).

8.5 For Style Points!
Photo of the Week (2010-06-13)

Veteran San Jose Red Lamar Harvey, who missed the previous two seasons, has come back to the diamond with the same enthusiasm and hustle as when he first began with the Reds in 2004. Harvey's head first slide into first base beat the throw to Mets(18) first baseman Jeremy Hernandez. His hustle wasn't enough, though, as the Reds(18) fell to the Mets(18) 10-7 in game two of their double-header at Del Mar. The Reds(18) did earn a split with a 10-6 win in game one.
