National Beats American, 9-5. Brewers' Gaona Breaks Arm.

July 23, 2009

The National League jumped out to a 5-0 lead in an error-laden first inning on their way to a 9-5 win over the American League. The American League commited four of their game-high six errors in the first inning.

The crowd was stunned in the seventh inning when Brewers' pitcher Jesus Gaona snapped his pitching arm while throwing to the Tigers' Melvin Souza. The loud crack of his arm could be heard throughout the stadium and the game was delayed for some 20-30 minutes while EMTs attended to Gaona on the mound. There's been no confirmation on his status, however, the sound was typical of a spiral fracture.

Welcome the Rays to the SJMSBL.

March 27, 2009

The SJMSBL welcomes the Rays to the American Division for the 2009 season.

The Rays will be managed by Gerardo (Jerry) Quiñones. Jerry has been in the league since 2002 and spent the last two years as a member of the Yankees. Before the Yankees Jerry had stints with the Giants(18) and the Tigers(18), both teams no longer in the league.

Joining Jerry from the Yankees is Cristian Martinez. The rest of the players will be new to the SJMSBL.

"One of the players with good expectations will be Cristian because he was one of the key players with the Yankees. This is our first year as a team. We might have a slow start but we are hoping to finish strong. From all the Rays players, good luck to everyone. Let's enjoy the summer and play ball."
-- Jerry Quiñones, Rays Manager

Twins(18) Morph into the Cubs(18) and Red Sox.

March 27, 2009
Cubs Logo
Red Sox Logo

Last year's Central Division Twins(18) have decided to split into two teams for the 2009 season. Steve McLean and Darren Headley will be keeping some of the younger players and remain in the Atlantic (formerly Central) Division as the Cubs(18) while Matt Johntone and Tony Anderson will be taking some players into the Pacific Division as the Red Sox.

Cubs(18) manager Steve McLean said,

"For me it was only about giving the Reds and Mets a run for their money and that couldn't be done with the old Twins. I am trying to start a dynasty and I want people to see that this team ain't no push around and kick some ass. Reds and Mets we're coming for you!"
-- Steve McLean, Cubs(18) Manager

On the other side, new Red Sox manager Matt Johnstone basically looks at the situation from a numbers perspective.

"It's all about the numbers and the playoffs. 5 teams vying for 4 playoff spots playing with the veteran division, compared to 7 teams vying for 4 playoff spots and the Reds, Mets, Blue Jays, and Phillies to deal with. Its just that simple. When faced with such dominant powerhouses, I am running away from that fight every time..."
-- Matt Johnstone, Red Sox Manager
