PHOENIX, Arizona -- The San José Father/Son team competed for the fourth time in Phoenix this year. We lost in the semi-finals to Rhode Island who is made up of mainly Puerto Rican former minor league players and their sons. Rhode Island was the two-time defending champion but lost this year to the L.A. Athletics.

San José received outstanding pitching from son pitchers Houston Hibberd, Sean Williams, and Joey Zagarino. Dad Ric Foley was in a tough luck situation pitching twice vs Rhode Island but pitched great in both outings.

The hitting was led by sons Todd Leffler, Daniel Hall, Mikey Denevi, Chris Denevi, Jonathan Gutierrez, Tim Denevi and Matt Zuvella. Dads who stood out at the plate included Jim Hadley, Rich Zuvella, Bill Leffler, and Cliff Hall.

Defensively, Jim Hadley was excellent behind the plate and outstanding plays were made by Matt Zuvella in center field and Tim Denevi at third base.
